RMR_667x1000If this were a TV show they would say this is the spin-off series from the original book Red Moon. Red Moon is about Avery and Tristan… let’s take just a moment to wipe our chins and settle our fluttering hearts and possibly fluttering loins at the very thought of Tristan Williams. I know that he is still giving me an afterglow even though it has been months since I got to read his sweaty doings. Phew!!! Goodness me, Elizabeth… how do you keep yourself from developing a huge ego knowing that you created such loveliness? If I were you I would just sit alone with my imaginary friends all day long and preen at my clever, naughty mind and the men it creates.

James.

Red Moon Rising is part of the Red Moon Second Generation Series and it gives you a chance to wonder if you should seek therapy when you begin lusting for Tristan, Nicholas and this book’s hunky piece of wolfy meat, James. You will remember that Nicholas was Sophia’s brother and that Tristan took him in when he brought home Sophia in Red Moon. James is Avery and Tristan’s first child and he is a fine showing in the worldly–world of passing down the sexy gene. I am going to have to say that they really did a good job with the recipe that they used and this kid turned out perfectly tasty. He is darkly sinful, deeply decadent and sexifably spicy. He is the sort of lycan that you could have with any wine. You know… butterfly that! He could make vinegar taste good. This is one delicious hero.

Bree is a sorry bottom human and she has the short stick in human life in the crackpot-crazy-apocalyptic-lycans-are-rock-stars world. As a reward for her crappy life she has just been voted “most likely to be a meal and sent off into the wilds to be hunted down to become a snack pack.” When you think of all the ways a man can put a woman in his mouth… I’m sure Bree is not having the images the lycans who are chasing her are having at the top on her list. Lucky for her she wins the paranormal version of the Wheel of Fortune and the good lycans, James and Nicholas, find her first; suddenly she can ask Vanna White to give her an, “Oh” and maybe another two three, “Oh, oh, ohs!”. She doesn’t know it yet but James can heal her booboos, and he and Nick can kill the bad puppies who are after her. And best of all! It is not a bad thing at all when James starts thinking of her, things in his mouth and possibly the two of them dining in or eating out the future. (Yep… totally went with the eating out pun. Proud of that pun. Might call my mom and share that one with her. =))

Now… this book is majorly different wolves of many different colors than Red Moon. Numbers one, two and three… James is a different sort of hero than Tristan. Tristan was a very carnal and very earthy male and he was very big on “I am Lord, hear me howl.” James is very, “This is my woman. I have peed nine million circles around her. She is mine. I have peed nine million and one circles around her. Have you looked at my woman? I have peed nine million and two circles around her.” He is ultra possessive, protective but totally respectful to Bree. Not that Tristan didn’t respect Avery or wasn’t possessive and protective… Avery was very strong and she would have knocked Tristan’s block off if he had peed anywhere near her. Bree and James’ relationship, while having many parallels, is very different; Bree is so polar opposite from Avery that her insertion into the Williams family is a very push/pull. She wants and doesn’t want what they are offering her; very much how she feels for James for the greater portion of the book. When she finally overcomes her inner war though she is all in. Bree is really a well developed heroine by the fact that she has a character version of a growth spurt to end all growth spurts and becomes a wonderful humanfly at the end. Errr well maybe not so insecty… she has the wolf… he is a… RAWR! Not like a bug. Bree will be a fine baby maker!? Maybe that is what I am saying… They will have beautiful little Jamrees. If that name blending thing works for Hollywood stars, it is damn well working here!

I recommend you get Tristan and James. I mean get Red Moon and Red Moon Rising. I can’t wait for Sophia, and Nicholas’ books–they WILL NOT be having a book together, sillyface–they are brother and sister! I am very much interested in seeing if Elizabeth branches out beyond human/lycan relationships in this series. There has to be something else out there that isn’t evil. Perhaps a leech that is an anomaly. That would be heartbreakingly beautiful. Not everyone can be a horribly unfortunate slave.

Red MoonRed Moon Synopsis:

Many years have passed since the Great War that destroyed over three quarters of the world’s population. Now, humans and supernaturals alike have learned how to survive in the new world. For Avery Hendrin, the eldest daughter of the man who brought light back to the world, life has taken a turn for the worse. Sold into slavery after her father’s death, Avery’s only concern is keeping her younger sister safe. Branded as a witch and rejected by her own kind because of her red hair, Avery resigns herself to a life in the slave house until a chance meeting with a powerful Lycan named Tristan Williams.

Although Tristan does not believe the human’s tales of the Reds being witches, he has no need for Avery. He’s in search of a nanny for his young children and after an impassioned plea from the redhead, agrees to hire her younger sister as his nanny. However, his beloved daughter Sophia has an immediate connection with Avery and Tristan cannot deny her request to purchase Avery as well, despite the discord it will bring to his household.

Struggling to accept her new life as a slave and to ignore her almost immediate attraction to Tristan, Avery tries to hide her healing powers from him but exposes her gift when she saves Tristan’s adopted brother from death.

Tristan believes his obsession with Avery is nothing more than lust. Determined to bed her despite her strange powers, will he convince her to accept her new life or give her the freedom she craves?
